My son is a creature of habit, much like his dad. Every morning he wakes up promptly at 6am, wide open and ready to tackle the day. He likes to sit in his chair and enjoy his favorite breakfast - oatmeal, raisins, sausage links, and a tall cup of milk. He enjoys his meal while taking in an exciting episode of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, or Mickey Mouse. He takes his first poop of the day by 7:15am, like clockwork. Nap time is at 12pm. He will sleep for 1 hr and 45 mins on a typical day. After that he is a ping pong ball bouncing everywhere until 8:30pm when he is ready to retire for the evening. However, one day he incorporated something into his routine for which I was not prepared. Every night before he goes to bed it is the family routine that we say a prayer with him. And for months I have been singing one of my favorite songs to him as I rock him to sleep. The song is "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley. I never knew if he was paying attention because every time I started singing the song to him it would not be long before he dozed off to sleep and I would hear his little snoring. One night after a terrible day at work I was rocking Kaden to sleep and at that moment I did not feel like singing that song. As parents we deal with the real world and sometimes it is hard to keep the good face in front of your kids, no matter how hard you try. And so I did not sing because I was sad. Then out of the blue I heard my son begin to softly sing to me..."Don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be all right." It was at that moment that my heart melted. And for just a few seconds, his little voice made me feel like every little thing was gonna be all right.
